In Tagalog, ‘Sinisinta Kita’ is a phrase that conveys romantic affection to someone. This idea is to reintroduce the romantic feeling of traditional courtship through fashion. The collection draws inspiration from the art of ‘Panliligaw,’ a courting and romantic culture in the Philippines. Courtship is the most beautiful and delightful phase of a Filipino’s romantic life. During this stage, couples get to know each other and decide whether or not to propose. Filipinos in the Philippines have developed unique and symbolic courtship and dating practices and traditions influenced by their indigenous and colonial cultures. The concept will be brought to life through painted scans and prints on the clothing, depicting the romantic dating and courtship of the past, including the meaning of body language, beliefs, and symbolism. The collection will utilize traditional Philippine embroidery as the primary technique, promoting its stunning and authentic artistry while supporting the local ‘Burda’ community, which is slowly fading due to modern technology.
