Growing up as a chubby kid, a certain statement was pounded into my head: “People won’t see me past my body.” We live in a world where we’re wired as shallow beings. We focus on mere physical attributes, where people are defined as how they appear. With such unattainable standards, we create self-judgment and self-prejudice. This collection is a personal attempt to push judgment past our exterior. Peeling out our layers; using human anatomy as a muse, Scoop Me Out reminds of our true center– being human in its most vulnerable and truest form. If I take away the part of me that I’m only seen for, If I take away the surface, Will I be finally seen for who I truly am?
